Mrs. Dober nominated Emma and noted, “Emma has really been working hard and asking great questions since returning from break. She is in two dual credit courses for me and doing her very best in both. Go Emma!”
Emma plans to attend Western Illinois University and go into the medical field. In addition to college, she has another goal for after high school which is to go on a mission trip. Her favorite class is Anatomy because it interests her the most. Some of Emma’s favorite things are osaka noodles, highland cows, the TV show All American, the movie The Longest Ride, and her favorite holiday is Valentine’s Day. The January Junior High Student of the Month is Grant Fricke (7th grade). He is the son of Dana and Jason Fricke and has a brother named Lane. He has a pet dog named Ollie and a pet turtle named Flash. Grant is involved in JH Baseball, JH Basketball, and plans to participate in track this spring.
Grant was nominated by Mrs. Morrow who had this to say, “Why wouldn't I nominate Grant?! Grant is an outstanding person all around. He is motivated to do things well in every aspect of his life. He takes pride in his schoolwork and assignments, and his grades reflect that. Grant is a quiet leader with his friends and classmates, also. He would be a fantastic role model for any student in the grade school. I will be one happy parent if my boys turn out like Grant!”
Grant wants to attend the University of Illinois and wants to become a Major League Baseball player when he grows up. Grant's favorite class here at Triopia is Current Events with Coach T. because “they have a lot of conversations about sports.” Grant really likes Papa John’s Pizza, Dogs, Sportscenter, and his favorite holiday is Christmas. His favorite movie is Rocky IV and he really enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football, and he enjoys fishing. Grant has a few things he does not like as well. The week of February 1st, 2021 has been designated as National School Counseling Week. For seven years now and for hopefully many years into the future, Triopia has been "blessed with the best" in Mrs. Amanda Surratt. Please take the time this week to drop her an email, give her a call, or tell her in person how much you appreciate what she does for not only you, but for all students. #nscw21 #allinforallstudents

Senior Spotlight

We are quickly approaching the 100th Day of School – February 4, 2021!
Every year we collect donations to make a contribution to a local organization and/or individual. Classes have begun collecting for this year. Students are encouraged to bring in any denomination of coins (or bills) – even a check made out to Triopia Grade School!
This year we have two options for donations –
1) monetary donation which will be donated to Shay Hopkin. Shay is a 2014 graduate of Triopia Jr. Sr. High School. He was serving in the military in Germany, but was diagnosed with kidney cancer in late 2020. He is currently undergoing treatments at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Funds collected will be donated to Shay and his family for medical and travel expenses. (This diagnosis changed Shay and his families lives in an instant, but they are staying strong and continue to believe there is a purpose and will have a positive outcome to Shay's battle. Shay has been keeping a positive attitude with all the thoughts and prayers - he really feels they are making a difference, along with the treatments he is undergoing.) Shay and his family are humbled by the kindness of family, friends and complete strangers during this time.
2) canned food items which will be donated to the local food pantry.
*If you are a community member and would like to make a donation, please drop it by the school prior to noon on Thursday, February 4.

Good afternoon:
Due to IDPH guidelines regarding spacing, all indoor athletic events (JH Volleyball, JH Basketball, HS Basketball, HS Volleyball) will be held in the high school gymnasium. We are limited to fifty spectators not involved with the game. Each athlete at this point should plan on having two spectators each (preferably family members) and will be asked to sign in when they arrive. Seating will be limited to the upper part of the home bleachers and the mezzanine level. Please park only in the rear parking lot.
Triopia will also stream all athletic contests. Each event will be shared on the Triopia Facebook page. Please remember that this will be a process that will be perfected as the athletic seasons move on. Be patient with us.
We have worked hard to create a plan that allows spectators to come to our events and also be safe. We are thankful for an opportunity we weren't sure we would have a month ago. Please space and wear masks properly and follow the directions of the administrator on duty. Don't be difficult. Come and enjoy a bit of normalcy and let our kids enjoy that normalcy as well.
Go Trojans!

Superintendent
