Congratulations to our February Students of the Month - Clara M., 4th grade and Collin H., 1st grade!

Parents of the Triopia community,
Mr. Beddingfield is in the process of starting a junior high scholastic bowl team, with the goal of strengthening the high school team and at the same time celebrating our great Triopia education. We want to showcase our Triopia students that aren’t afraid to demonstrate their
depth of knowledge in a competitive environment and NOT be ashamed of it and in such a way that we can truly represent our community and school.
There are four criteria that must be met to join the team: a HS/JH teacher recommendation is needed, exemplary attendance {proof of commitment}, discipline {the ability to do what is expected of oneself}, and honor roll {appreciates a quality education}.
The season will run from approximately March 16th through April 27th. We will try to avoid any conflicts with track and field in Virginia. We want anyone that wants to participate in both sports the opportunity to do so. Practices will start at 4:30pm and will last until 5:15pm. There will be a cost of approximately $10 for a team t-shirt that will be kept by the participant at the end of the season. Dress code for competitive events requires khaki pants, dress or sports shoes, and uniform top.
See Mr. Beddingfield for a sign-up sheet.

The February Junior High Student of the Month is Cole Strubbe (8th grade student). He is the son of Kirk and Cara and has 3 brothers; Austin, Nate, and Isaac who all attend school here at Triopia. Cole is involved in football and baseball here at Triopia.
Cole was nominated by Mrs. Surratt who had this to say, “Cole is a great student who leads by example. He is respectful, kind, and willing to help out.”
Cole plans to go to college after high school but is undecided on where at this point. He wants to study ag and become a farmer or a woodworking engineer. Cole says that his favorite class is art with Mrs. Wardell because it allows himself and others to be creative.
Cole has many favorites. He really likes seafood, dogs, the show The Office, and his favorite movie is Red Notice. Cole’s favorite holiday is Christmas. Cole also enjoys playing sports, particularly football, and enjoys woodworking in his free time. There are a few things Cole dislikes: brussel sprouts, bananas, Dr. Pepper, chocolate ice cream, and crowds of people. Congratulations to Cole Strubbe!

Kimberly Gallegos is the Underclassmen Student of the Month for February. She is a sophomore here at Triopia and is the daughter of Nancy Acala and Jorge Gallegos. She has 3 brothers Hugo (class of 2019), Charly (Class of 2021), and George (sophomore here at Triopia).
Kimberly was nominated by Ms. Fisher who had this to say, “She always has a great attitude and comes to class prepared.”
Kimberly plans to attend Western Illinois University or Southern Illinois University after high school and wants to become an English Language Arts Teacher. Kimberly’s favorite class is P.E. with Mr. Brockhouse because she enjoys weightlifting and being able to be active in the different units.
Some of Kimberly’s favorite things are macaroni and cheese, ice cream, Koala’s, the tv show Gilmore Girls, the movie Flipped, and her favorite holiday is Easter. Kimberly really enjoys watching football and basketball games with her friends. The only thing Kimberly does not like is “fake” people. Congratulations Kimberly!

Riddick Workman is the Upperclassmen Student of the Month for February. He is a junior here at Triopia and is the son of Melanie Workman and the late William Workman. He has a sister, Ameara who is an 8th grader here at Triopia. Riddick is a member of the Regional Championship Scholastic Bowl team, he serves as the Greenehouse Manager, and is the Treasurer of the junior class.
Mr. Beddingfield nominated Riddick and noted, “From the outside looking in; just observing Riddick in Ms. Harman's horticulture class, I find him to be very meticulous in his work/effort on assignments. In the greenhouse, Riddick many times can be seen doing the thankless jobs. As the scholastic bowl coach, Riddick has become much more of a leader, by answering many more tossup questions. Also, he is much more outspoken in practices and matches. Finally, as a father; I take great pride in Riddick as he is always holding the door for EVERYONE as they enter or exit a building or room. His parents can be very proud of him.”
Riddick plans to attend college but is undecided on where at this time. Riddick plans to study Wildlife Biology wherever he decides to go. Riddick has a few goals after high school. He wants to make those around him happy, take care of cats, and to visit Washington.
Riddick’s favorite class is College Algebra with Mrs. Dober because he really enjoys problem solving even though the class is a bit hard. Some of Riddick’s favorite things are Cheddar Cheese Chex Mix, his cat George, the TV Show Adventure Time, the movie Snake on a Plane, and his favorite holiday is Halloween. He enjoys hiking and playing video games outside of school. However, Riddick is not a big fan of peas, cliffs, and realizing he has homework to do 5 minutes before he goes to bed. Congratulations Riddick Workman!
