Mark your calendar...

Today marked the last day of the inaugural Triopia Basketball Clinic. For four Saturdays starting in February, sixty 1st-4th graders worked on the fundamentals of basketball and had a little fun. Each week we also emphasized traits that they can control. This included being coachable, effort/hustle, sportsmanship, and body language. We also emphasized that if they want to get better they have to practice on their own. Picking up a ball and dribbling and shooting at home will only make them better! Special thanks to the volunteers that helped throughout this clinic, especially the high schoolers from both the girls and boys team. We are looking forward to having the clinic in 2025! #triopia

Good Morning:
Today there was an article in the Jacksonville Journal-Courier outlining our plans for “Phase Two” of our planned construction projects that will take place during the summer of 2024. I wanted to expand on that article a bit with some images and explanations of what will be happening.
“Phase One”, which consisted of the construction of a secured entrance to the grade school, is nearly complete. It will be occupied in the coming weeks. A few of the tasks needing to be completed outdoors, such as the sidewalk and the EIFS (face of the building) will be done when winter is finally past us. We are excited to show you the completed projected soon!
“Phase Two” consists of two major projects. First, we will add a secured entrance to the Jr. Sr. High School wing of the building. We will use existing space to carve out an area that will move our principal, secretary, and athletic director near the entrance to the building where visitors will not have access to the rest of the building without first entering the office space. As we continue to focus on the safety of our staff and students, we also will be adding a phone system into all classrooms this summer.
The second project of “Phase Two” will be the renovation of our high school gymnasium. This will include the removal of the stage (and eventual purchase of a new portable stage), new bleachers with stairs that adds extra seats and ADA compliant seating, and a new gym floor. There also will be some other cosmetic upgrades that we can’t wait to show everyone. As I said in the article, that gym is an important part of our community. This is the area where we come to not only cheer on our student athletes, but also celebrate our veterans, the holidays, and our graduates. In our small communities, this is where we all unite. Upgrading this space will continue to make it an area that all of our residents can be proud of and make it so all can enjoy events comfortably.
I have included images of the high school office floorplan, the gym floor mockup, the bleachers, and the bleacher end covers. There will be more to come as we move forward on this exciting project.
As always, I can be reached at 217-457-2283 x 1025 or adean@triopiacusd27.org with any questions.
Sincerely,
Adam Dean
Superintendent
