At approximately 8:30 this morning, a main water line into the school was found to be damaged by the head of maintenance. Water coming into the building was turned off, and by 10:00, most water in the building had already been used. After speaking with our plumbers and generating a timeline, the decision was made to dismiss school early. The problem should be solved and school should be back in session on Monday, September 23rd.
When situations like this present themselves, there are many people who deserve a “thanks” for their flexibility. The cooks, with a little help, were able to serve all students (starting at 10:15) in a short time frame before they went home. We had a few bus drivers on field trips, but luckily we had sub drivers step in and drive a route home. Our regular bus drivers who could be here also had to change plans so they could be back here at 11:00. The building secretaries and director of transportation took numerous calls and got notices out to make all of this possible. All other teachers and staff deserve a lot of credit, because once the decision to dismiss early has been made, accomplishing educational goals and monitoring your students for the rest of the day can be quite difficult. Since our cafeteria is not big enough to serve all students at once, several staff members also helped clean trash out of rooms after students were dismissed.
A big thanks to parents and family members, as well, for your flexibility. Unfortunately, emergencies like this happen. We appreciate your ability to, at times, drop everything, and pick up your kids when you weren't expecting to. Have a good weekend, and we hope to see everyone back on Monday!

Due to a water main break Triopia Schools will be dismissing early today (Friday, September 20th). All bus students at 11:10; remaining GS students at 11:15 and remaining Jr/Sr High students at 11:20. Thank You

Smiles from Cardinals and Cubs fans at the grade school!

Several staff members joined in on the fun with the Cubs/Cardinals rivalry today! ⚾️

There will be a Jr. High Boys Basketball parent meeting next Tuesday, September 24th at 6:30pm in the Triopia cafeteria for any student in grades 6-8 planning on playing basketball this winter. One parent and the athlete should attend this meeting.

During the 2018-2019 school year, Isaac French started his own coffee shop at Triopia. With the assistance of his family, his aide Tara Hobrock, and his teacher at the time Karen Werries, Isaac’s shop has since flourished. At this point, Isaac and Mrs. Hobrock deliver 18-25 drinks a day, which is an increase from last year. Their goal is to deliver 100 drinks a week. Isaac’s shop has items such as coffee, iced coffee, hot tea, iced tea, hot chocolate, water and flavored water. Isaac enjoys delivering his drinks to the staff and loves to visit with all of his customers. Isaac also has his customers’ usual orders memorized! This shop has helped Isaac learn many skills that will help him once he leaves our doors. Isaac’s shop is one of the things that makes Triopia great! Thanks to Isaac for his service to our staff!

Wear your Cubs or Cardinals gear to school tomorrow... if you aren't a fan of either team, then support your own Triopia Trojans! No hats, please!

Treat people right and they will treat you right...

The Lady Trojans improve their record to 10-0 as they sweep their set against Calhoun tonight. They beat Calhoun 25-21, 25-19. Keep up the good work ladies!

For the Week of September 16th, Triopia is pleased to spotlight 1st year faculty member Megan Smith. Mrs. Smith teaches our new business classes this year. Mrs. Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. Mrs. Smith expresses that her favorite class to teach is “all of them” as she has a “great group of students that make her classes so fun.” Outside of teaching, Mrs. Smith loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys reading, cooking, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Her favorite thing about Triopia CUSD #27 is that students and staff are so nice and welcoming. A fun and interesting fact about Mrs. Smith is that she would love to be on the Food Network TV Show “Chopped.” We are pleased to have Mrs. Smith at Triopia and are thankful for her coming in and starting new classes for us this school year.

Upcoming Safety Drills

Just a reminder that all students NOT riding a bus or driving themselves to school should be dropped off in front in the circle drive. We made this change last year for safety reasons. Thank you for your help with this.

Mark your calendar for September 28 for the Ken Bradbury Triopia Music Extravaganza - shows at 2:30 and 7:00 at Triopia. Please see image for where to purchase tickets!
