The week of February 1st, 2021 has been designated as National School Counseling Week. For seven years now and for hopefully many years into the future, Triopia has been "blessed with the best" in Mrs. Amanda Surratt. Please take the time this week to drop her an email, give her a call, or tell her in person how much you appreciate what she does for not only you, but for all students. #nscw21 #allinforallstudents

We are quickly approaching the 100th Day of School – February 4, 2021!
Every year we collect donations to make a contribution to a local organization and/or individual. Classes have begun collecting for this year. Students are encouraged to bring in any denomination of coins (or bills) – even a check made out to Triopia Grade School!
This year we have two options for donations –
1) monetary donation which will be donated to Shay Hopkin. Shay is a 2014 graduate of Triopia Jr. Sr. High School. He was serving in the military in Germany, but was diagnosed with kidney cancer in late 2020. He is currently undergoing treatments at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Funds collected will be donated to Shay and his family for medical and travel expenses. (This diagnosis changed Shay and his families lives in an instant, but they are staying strong and continue to believe there is a purpose and will have a positive outcome to Shay's battle. Shay has been keeping a positive attitude with all the thoughts and prayers - he really feels they are making a difference, along with the treatments he is undergoing.) Shay and his family are humbled by the kindness of family, friends and complete strangers during this time.
2) canned food items which will be donated to the local food pantry.
*If you are a community member and would like to make a donation, please drop it by the school prior to noon on Thursday, February 4.

Good afternoon:
Due to IDPH guidelines regarding spacing, all indoor athletic events (JH Volleyball, JH Basketball, HS Basketball, HS Volleyball) will be held in the high school gymnasium. We are limited to fifty spectators not involved with the game. Each athlete at this point should plan on having two spectators each (preferably family members) and will be asked to sign in when they arrive. Seating will be limited to the upper part of the home bleachers and the mezzanine level. Please park only in the rear parking lot.
Triopia will also stream all athletic contests. Each event will be shared on the Triopia Facebook page. Please remember that this will be a process that will be perfected as the athletic seasons move on. Be patient with us.
We have worked hard to create a plan that allows spectators to come to our events and also be safe. We are thankful for an opportunity we weren't sure we would have a month ago. Please space and wear masks properly and follow the directions of the administrator on duty. Don't be difficult. Come and enjoy a bit of normalcy and let our kids enjoy that normalcy as well.
Go Trojans!

Superintendent

Good afternoon:
My apologies for the communication error with emergency routes this AM. We think we have this issue figured out for future announcements. We are glad everyone made it safely and we were able to have school.
Since we are in the peak of the winter weather season, I did want to take the time to remind you that the Triopia Board of Education passed a “late start” procedure this past summer. If there ever is a time where I speak with our road commissioners and they feel like roads can be cleared relatively quickly, we will use this procedure. School will start at 10:00 AM if we use this system (dismissal will remain at the same time). Busses will run approximately ninety minutes later than they usually do. So, if your child is usually picked up at 7:30 AM, look for them to be picked up at 9:00 AM. Please realize the first time this is used, whether this year or another, it may be met with some hiccups. Our hope is that we can have school on days where road conditions are really only poor for a short time.
Also, please remember that stopping on the highway in front of the school in the morning is not safe. We realize there is congestion in the morning, and especially more so when more students are dropped off during inclement weather. If you pull up and see a line into the circle drive, please pull to the back parking lot and wait a few minutes, or circle back around a few minutes later. Also please remember if you are helping a student into the building, please park to help them in, instead of getting out of your car in the circle drive.
We are also attaching the emergency routes to this post as well. Just for further clarification, if we announce a late start with emergency routes, the pickups would be ninety minutes after what is on this sheet.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call at 217-457-2283 x 1025 or email at adean@triopiacusd27.org.
Sincerely,
Adam Dean
Superintendent

JH Boys-9:45 AM-11:45 AM
HS Girls-9:00 AM-11:00 AM
HS Boys-1:00 PM-3:00 PM

Thanks!

Dear Students, Parents, Staff and Community Members:
The IDPH changed their guidance for athletic activities this afternoon. Any region in Phase Four will be able to participate in all sports to varying degrees. I am so excited for our student athletes! The guidance can be found here:
http://dph.illinois.gov/covid19/community-guidance/sports-safety-guidance
Please be patient in regards to questions about specifics and schedules. The IHSA and IESA will meet soon to revise the athletic calendar. Then, district athletic directors have the difficult job of rescheduling contests and gym schedules.
Remember, this is only as long as we remain in Phase Four. Do your part to follow guidelines so our students and community can stay safe and our athletes can have the seasons they have had to miss!
Sincerely,
Adam Dean
Superintendent

Theresa Langley visited the accounting class today to talk to the students about her job as the district bookkeeper. Mrs. Langley talked about different accounts the school has, how things are accounted for, information that is included on the school's financial sheets and how she decided to get into the accounting field. Thanks Theresa!!
