World Read Aloud Day is TODAY, February 5, 2020! The worldwide event from Scholastic and the global literacy nonprofit LitWorld calls attention to reading aloud and sharing stories. Now in its 11th year and celebrated in over 173 countries, World Read Aloud Day is a wonderful reminder of the power and importance of this best practice.
An abundance of research points to how reading aloud is both beneficial and beloved. Widely-known guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends parent-child home reading beginning from birth. A landmark report also uncovered that reading aloud to children is the single most important activity for building their knowledge for eventual success in reading. Furthermore, the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report™: 7th Edition shows that more than 80% of both kids and parents love or like read-aloud time because they consider it a special time together.

Triopia Schools will be dismissing 2 hours early today due to weather conditions.
Bus Students will be dismissed at 1:10, GS students at 1:15 and remaining JH/HS students at 1:20.
There will be no afternoon Pre-K.
All practices and games are canceled for this evening.
Ms. Ayres’ Biology class did an activity on Ecology and used common household items (tweezers, clothes pin, spoons, and hair clips) as “beaks” to show the different kinds of species. They used their “beaks” to pick as much food off the ground as they could in 30 seconds. The class gathered data to show what “”beak” worked the best.
The HS Boys Basketball game v. Calhoun is cancelled tonight.
It is rescheduled for Monday, February 10.
Little Cheer and Pom Camp participants will perform on Monday during halftime of the varsity game.
Also all Tri County youth basketball players are invited to Monday's game and will be admitted for free, if they wear their Tri-County tshirt.
The 8th grade boys basketball team and parents will also be recognized.
The Class of 2024 is selling Strawberries - all orders are due Friday, February 14 - see any 8th grader, Miss Lynn or Mrs. Price to order. Strawberries will be delivered in March.

Congratulations to our 3rd grade and 7th grade classes - they had the highest percentage for attendance in January. Both classes will be rewarded with donuts!! #triopia #attendancematters
Reminder tomorrow is the little pom and cheer camp from 9:00-12:00 at Triopia. Please drop off and pick up students by the cafeteria/elementary school doors in the front or back of the building. Thank you.
